About Jason Boyd

Jason has been drawing since the age of six and took classes outside of school at an early age. In high school he was at home in Gould Academy's diverse art department taking classes in design, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and blacksmithing. After two years in Montana State University’s landscape design program and a year off in between Jason studied art, Chinese landscape painting and eastern philosophy at Vermont's Marlboro College. Since his graduation in 1998 Jason's art work has eclectically reflected his connection with natural world. Equally tangible in his work is a love of art's process. The summer of 1999 Jason began making mixed medium assemblages while an intern at 'Sitka Center for Art and Ecology' on the central Oregon coast. after moving to Burlington, Vermont in 2000 Jason took part in the first annual 'Process and Progress' show at Burlington's Firehouse gallery. That same year in September, Jason participated in Burlington's 'South End Art Hop as he has done subsequently each year to the present. During this time he showed new work at a variety of local cafes like Muddy Waters, Radio Bean, and the former Daily Bread in Richmond. Currently residing in Richmond with his fiancée and his three month old son, Jason is making collages and paintings in a home studio. He also maintains a wood working shop in Richmond where he does framing and assemblage work.
